Kiwifruit growers form state body

California kiwifruit growers have voted in a referendum for the. formation of a state commission, which will develop American and export markets and do production research.
Participating in the referendum, which now has the force of state law. were .341 growers representing 75 per cent of the California total. Ninetyfour per cent of them voted for the commission, said Mr George Tanimoto, president of Kiwi Growers of California.
■ He said that they.' had produced more than two million kilograms of the . fruit in 1979, making California second only, to New Zealand. Growers in California now export to Europe and Japan.
