Pure Steel wins match race
Pure Steel boosted his stake earnings to $805,015 when he defeated Satinover in a $50,000 match race a!t Gloucester Park, Perth, last Friday evening. Driven by Phil Coulson, , Pure Steel raced outside Satinover for the last lap of the ISOOm race before racing to the lead 100 m out He surged to the line four metres clear, rating Imin 59.45, which was 0.5 s outside the record set by Satinover when he beat Pure Steel in a heat of the Benson and Hedges Cup in January. Pure Steel has now had 98 starts for 57 wins, 20 seconds and seven thirds.
