Grand finale
Caught the last 20 minutes of Th’ Dudes at the Hillsborough Tavern on Saturday evening, in which a capacity audience gave the group a rousing reception. “A reserved Christchurch csowd became unreserved,” was how the lead vocalist, Peter Urlich, put it after the show, in which the capacity audience called for more, but as closing time approached, Th’ Dudes had time for only one encore — “White Punks On Dope,” Urlich practically
climbing -ie P.A. system. Afterwards Urlich seemed . estatic , about the response yelling ■’ at the guitarist, lan Morris, that Th’ Dudes were reforming, but Morris was sitting on the side of the stage engrossed in conversation with a woman. If Th’ D ’escan get the same response from a Wellington audience this evening for its farewell concert, being recorded for “Radio with Pictures,” then it will be worth watching.
