Paul Crichton will be seeking his third win in the 50-lap derby, the main event at the Christchurch Kart Club’s meeting at Carrs Road on Sunday. Crichton’s first win was in 1976 and he was successful again last year. He will be using the same engine this time, a very potent 125 cc Honda C.R.
John Hamilton should be one of Crichton’s strongest
rivals. He won the race in 1977 and he will be using the new 125 cc Yamaha which he steered to victory at the recent national championships in Invercargill. Jim Rouse, who was second to Crichton last year, Richard Tapper, Derek Wilson and Graeme Stevens are other good prospects. Retuse has a new kart with one of the latest 125 cc Kawasaki engines.
