Stewart will watch form
PA Invercargill Ken Stewart, after pulling out of the All Black trials for Australia and Fiji to concentrate on his farm, says he will have to see what his form is like before making any decision about whether to . try for the tour of Wales at the end of the year. But, from his Balfour farm yesterday, Stewart said he was definitely still available for Southland.
“Eight weeks away from the farm is a bit too much,”
said the flanker, who has played 52 times for New Zealand and in 11 test matches. “I’ve got a big programme on the farm.” Southland’s first match of the season is not till July 23, which is the date of the last game of the AustraliaFiji tour, against Fiji, in Suva.
Stewart said he was hoping to get into the Southland team and was looking forward to the season as he has never played in a Ranfurly Shield challenge.
