Race for media
Motor-racing drivers often have to put up with a lot of criticism about their driving from writers and correspondents, but at Sunday’s meeting. they will get their revenge. Four local media representatives will have their own little race, driving potent OSCA cars which will probably scare them half to death. The honour of "The Press” will be upheld by John Fridd in lan Munt’s 5.8 litre Capri Chev, backed for the race by Don Grindley Tyres. The other three drivers will be Biff Urquhart, of 3ZM, driving John Osborne’s Camaro and backed by N.Z. Helmet Co.; George Balani, of 3ZB, in Rod McElrea’s Mustang and backed by his restaurant, the Sorbonne; and Alister Ansell, formerly of TV’s “Car Talk," driving Rod Collingwood’s Datsun, backed by PDL Motors.
