Record to Beggs
Even though he hit one shot out of bounds, Dennis Beggs (Rangiora) still managed to break the Windsor Golf Club’s course record with a 69 yesterday. Beggs, playing in the Windsor ‘ open individual stableford tournament, went out in 35 and came back in 34 to finish three-under, beating the previous record of 70 on the present layout.
He hit one birdie on the front nine and four on the back nine when his round was marred by a six on the par-4 thirteenth. In spite of his record he finished only third in the tournament with 41 stableford points. The .'winner, ' Russell Ede (Coringa); gained 44: points.
