Mr Hay seeks third term as Mayor
The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr Hamish Hay) will be the Citizens’ Association candidate for Mayor this year for the third time. His nomination was announced at the association’s annual meeting this week. Mr Hay, who is 52, is completing his second term as Mayor, and has been on the Christchurch City Council for almost 21 years. He is chairman of the Town Hall Board of Management, : and has been . an ac-
itive promoter of the Town Hall since 1957. For nine years he was chairman of the Christchurch Arts Festival, and was an original member of the Canterbury Savings Bank board, on which he still serves. Mr Hay is a former depu* ty managing director of Haywrights, Ltd, and has remained a non-executive director of that company. He is vice-president of thq Municipal Association.
