Obituary Mr E. G. Pidgeon
As former president of the Christ’s College Old Boys’ Association, Mr Edward Geoffrey Pidgeon, has died in Christchurch. He was 74. Mr Pidgeon, who was bom in Christchurch, attended Christ’s College from 1920 to 1923, and was a foundation member of the Old Collegians’ Cricket Club in 1924. He was an active cricketer until 1965.
Mr Pidgeon was president of the Christ’s College Old Boys’ Association from 1944 to 1949. He was also the immediate past president of the I Fendalton Bowling Club.
He was the director of E. W. Pidgeon and Company, a motor-accessories firm, from which he retired in 1971. During World War II he served in the Pacific. Mr Pidgeon was an active worker for appeals for the Christ’s College assembly hall, the Antarctic wing of the Canterbury Museum, and the Christchurch Cathedral restoration. After his retirement he visited and read to blind people. Mr Pidgeon is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and two stepsons. ■ .
