Player out for month
Trans Tours United will almost certainly be without its skilful and experienced mid-fielder, lan Marshall, until next month. Marshall suffered a broken cheekbone during United’s impressive, 4-0, Rothmans Soccer League win over Hanimex-North Shore on Monday. He had an operation yesterday but is expected to be out of soccer for four weeks. However, Graeme Archer, who replaced Marshall on Monday and also came on for United’s international
mid-field player, Steve Sumi ner, during United’s 1-0 win over Hamilton two days earlier, has proved to be a more than useful substitute. Marshall’s injury came at an unfortunate time for United, which has won its first five matches and leads the points table on goal difi ference. But Marshall is the first regular player to suffen an injury this season, q sharp contrast with 1979, when a spate of early ini juries forced several players to fill positions they werai unaccustomed to.
