Sir, — Genevieve Forde’s article on the Philippines (“The Press,” April 8) made excellent, informative reading. One particular quote from the visiting priest seemed to find echoes in our present New Zealand situation: “The wealth of the country could provide even more than the population needs, but it does not go to the majority; it goes to the multi-* national companies in part-* nership with local businessmen.” We seem at present to be determinedly “selling out” our country’s natural resources to huge overseas interests.
