Tornado rips house
PA New Plymouth A- tornado tore apart. a house being built at TongaporutU, north of New Plymouth, on Monday evening. The A-frame house, being built by Mr and Mrs J. Axbey, of Te Puke, had its lower storey ripped from, beneath it in five seconds of destruction. Several other houses were damaged, and a -tonne boatwas ” lifted ' from T its trailer and turned round. " Mr and Mrs Axbey were not at home yesterday, and it is not known if the house : was insured. It was estimat■ed the house would have ! cost between $45,000 and $50,000 when completed. • |
