Poskitt wins record seventh golf title
Fred Poskilt set a club record | !at- Waimairi Beach on Sunday! I when he won that club’s senior i golf title for the seventh time in nine years. However, the Canterbury rei prtsentatlve had to play belowpar golf to beat the much improved John Gregg, 3 and 2; Gregg was 3 up after 18 and still held that advantage after 23 holes. Poskitt produced the fireworks . from that point and five birdies over the next nine holes proved too much for Gregg. In the morning, the 24-year-old Gregg had three bjrdles and was even with the -card. ' .
Murray Atkinson beat BillJoblin in the intermediate championship; Bob Moffat won the junior A championship from Hec Green; and Fred Judd mastered Hughey Hancock in tlie junior B final. At Coringa on Sunday. Brent Paterson, winner of the Russley intermediate title the previous week, had a record second round . on the - championship course ’ of 71.’ It included four birdies. . --7The 19-year-old Paterson had a 36-hole total of 147. and won the open tournament by seven shots from Paul Shearer with Stephen Street third bn 156.
