Education report sought

The refusal by the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) to make public a report on the Johnson Report on human development and relations courses in schools has angered the Concerned Parents’ Association. • The association’s chairman (Mr Peter Clements), said Mr Wellington’s action was a “giant raspberry” to New Zealand parents. . Mr Wellington has said that he will not release a report by Link Consultants, Ltd, of Wellington, which analysed 2000 public submissions made last year on the Johnson Report. He said the analysis had been given the same status as a departmental report to him. He would not release the full text but would make a statement on the basis 1 of it. Mr Clements said this was totally unacceptable, to. parents. Six /year's--of discussion on human development and relations, education, which included ' the -Ross Report of 1975, had been,“swept under-the, carpet.” Mr Wellington had been “sitting!’ on the Link Con-, suitants report since before Christmas apparently because it did not , concur with his own views on the issue.
