‘Miss Asia’ officially accepted
PA Auckland The organisers of the “Miss Asia” beauty contest quest have officially accepted Miss Cara Pollock, aged 17, as the New Zealand representative. Miss Pollock had been asked to resign the title she won last week, after it was discovered that one of the four judges was her stepmother. However, the young Auckland woman told the New Zealand contest franchiseholder and organiser (Mrs A. Tucker), that she was determined to hold on to the title.
Mrs; Tucker last evening, spoke to the project director of the contest in Manila, (Mr P. C. Yago), who found Miss Pollock’s entry acceptable on both legal and moral grounds. In the future, said Mrs Tucker, judges would be given forms on which they could declare any relationship with a contestant to prevent similar circumstances arising.
