Yacht race double
The second division yacht, Spirit of Pelorous Jack (Barry Edwards), gained a line honours and handicap double during the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club’s race from Lyttelton to Pigeon Bay. It also Jed the fleet back to Lyttelton in the return event. Freedom Machine (Gavin and Colin Cooke) was fastest in both first division races over a course which also included a mark off South Brighton. On corrected times, Alchemy (Owen Baron), in the first division, and the second division craft, Rainbow 111 (Brent Cameron), were the most successful, with a first and second placing each. Conditions were light and from the north-east for the outward event, contrasting with the fresh southerly which prevailed when 1
