Virgin brides

Sir, — Your article “Virgin brides now rare” (March 26) proves, once more, what this association has been telling New Zealand for more than five years, that sex education not only fails to improve the moral standards of the young but is in fact counterproductive. What is happening in Britain now occurred in America yesterday and could be mirrored in the New Zealand of tomorrow. Exposure to sex education and easier availability of contraception will corrupt our young. New Zealand parents know this, and now so does the Minister of Education. Perhaps that is why he has refused to publish the findings of the Link Consultants’ Report on the Submissions to the Johnson Committee booklet, “Growing Sharing and . Learning.” — Yours, etc.,

P. CLEMENTS, National chairman, Concerned Parents’ Association. March 28, 1980.
