Hungry week-end for some

More., than 45,000 people. 3500 of them in Christchurch, will go hungry at the week-end.

They will be part of World Vision’s 40-hour “famine,” running from 8 p.m. last evening to noon tomorrow. World Vision aims to raise $500,000. of which it is hoped $50,000 will come from Christchurch. Last year, the 40-hour famine raised $450,000 to help refugees.

In Christchurch, groups from schools, churches, and scouts will take part' in the scheme. Nurses, university students, and members of Rotoract will also take part. More than 1800 pupils from 25 secondary schools will go hungry! The largest single group, which consists of 240 pupils, is from Hillrnorton High School.
