Sanitation advice
PA Auckland Holiday resorts must develop better sanitation facilities to cope with the yearly influx of people, the Director-General of Health (Dr H. J. H. Hiddlestone) has said. Dr Hiddlestone told the Nurses’ Association conference that an almost yearly outbreak of salmonella in Northland
resorts and a chronic hepatitis “scourge” were just two examples of the consequences of inadequate facilities. It was not merely in resorts, he said. Health problems associated with sanitation were also experienced in areas such as south Auckland, where overcrowding had concerned the Health Department a few years ago. ,
