Support for Olympics
NZPA Brisbane The Queensland State Premier, Joh Bjelke-Pe tersen, said yesterday that he would urge the Prime Minister, Malcolm Fraser, to abandon Australia’s proposed boycott of the Moscow Olympic Games. “I hope I will be able to talk Mr Fraser into letting
the Australian team go to the Olympics,” said Mr Bjelke-Petersen. “What point can our protest do to help the unfortunate people in Afghanistan?” he asked. Earlier this week, the New South Wales Premier, Neville Wran, promised to provide funds for N.S.W. athletes to go to Moscow.
