Wool prices at Chch second-highest

The average price for wool sold at the last Christchurch sale on February 27 and 29 was the second highest for Christchurch sale this sea* son. It was 273.05 c a kilogram. For Hie sale in October last year the average was 288.2 1 c:

The average last month was 12.63 c a kilogram higher than in January — Compared with the corresponding sale last season last month’s sale was better by 36.28 c. or 15.3 per cent.

At last month’s Sale 6,425,078 kg of wool was sold for $17,543,411.14, according to figures supplied by the Christchurch WoolbrbkerS’ Association.

Until last month 187,716 bales of greasy wool had been sold in Christchurch this season, ■ compared with 169,154, at the end of February last year. This was an increase of 18.562 bales, or about 11 per cent, reflecting increased wool production and the wish of producers to sell early to take advantage of the good prices.
