Orientation Week at University
Orientation Week will begin at the University of Canterbury on Friday. The customary annual week of activities designed to help new students find their way about the unviers-i-iy and introduce them to available clubs and services has cost the Students’ Association $31,000 this year. The Drama Society’s production of “Zelda,” the story of Scott Fitzgeralds’s wife, will begin the programme on Friday at 7.30 p.m. in the Nagaio Marsh Theatre. The play will continue throughout Orientation Week. Its cast will play cricket against a team of Orientation Week organisers on Sunday, March 2. Red Mole, the popular political satire group, will hold an all-day workshop on Sunday. A limit of 30 has been set for the workshop, which will cost $5.50 per person. Throughout the week, Radio U, the students’ radio station, will broadcast on 1503 kHz from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The station went ,on the air bn Monday and will broadcast daily until March 15. although Orientation Week will finish on March 9.
•Students can buy a ticket for $4.50 which will grant them access to most activities but some films, plays, or hands will cost extra,
