Job loss feared
PA Wellington University librarians fear for their jobs as a result of an announcement, by the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) of ' ‘a slight reduction in nonacademic staff” of universities during the next five years. University libraries had already suffered funding cuts which meant fewer student assistants being employed; and this, combined with libraries’ provision of extra services such as photocopying, audi-vis-ual facilities, and access to. computer based information, had increased the work pressure on present staff; she said.
