Borg wins tournament
NZPA Salisbury, Maryland Sweden’s Bjorn Borg won the $200,000 World Championship Tennis (W.C.T.) Tournament yesterday when he defeated India’s Vijay Amritraj, 7-5, 6-1, 6-3 in the final.
Amritraj, who crushed the top American, Eddie Dibbs, 6-2, 6-1 yesterday, held his own against the Swedish
champion in the first set. But from the first service game of the second it was very much one-way traffic. In the final set Borg took Amritraj’s service on the eighth game to lead, 5-3, and then served out a love game
j to clinch the match. , The victory was worth ; $lOO,OOO to Borg. Amritraj i earned $40,000 prize money.
