Another win for Pure Steel
NZPA Sydney Australia’s champion pacer Pure Steel maintained his. big race record with a good win in the $82,000 A. G. Hunter Cup at Mobnee Valley in Melbourne on Saturday night Pure Steel (evens favourite) beat the New South Wales pacer Kaola King (31) by a nose with Brad Adios (10-1) from Victoria a metre away for third. It was the eight-year-old s third Hunter Cup and it took his earnings to $698,745, easily Australia’s greatest money winner. Only Cardigan Bay with $1 million and Young Quinn ($760,000) have won more among Australia and New Zealand standardbreds.
