Residents object to expressway
Residents near Avonside Drive and Kilmore Street have begun a campaign to oppose development of an expressway through the area.
A meeting Of about 60 people on Thursday evening elected a committee to coordinate the campaign and draft an objection to the Christchurch City Council.
The expressway is designated under the council’s district scheme. The meeting agreed that a resident’s association be formed “to oppose by any possible means the Avon-side-Woodham expressway and take steps to lift the designation.” A meeting of the newly elected committee will be held tomorrow.
