Prisoners remanded
PA Chorley (England) Three New Zealanders and eight Britons charged in connection with the murder of a drug ring leader, Christopher Martin Johnstone, were again remanded in custody at a Magistrate’s Court at Chorley, Lancashire, yesterday.
After a two minute appearance in court, the accused were remanded to February 28. Last week’s unsuccessful
applications for bail on behalf of four of the defendants allowed the publication of police evidence in the case for the first time. There were no further bail applications yesterday. Committal proceedings to decide whether the 11 should go on trial open on May 19. Johnstone’s body was found in a disused quarry near Chorley last October. His hands had been cut 0~.
