Coach not despondent

NZPA Washington Mr Andreas Hefti, coach of the New Zealand team a< the Winter Olympics, is not despondent about the performances of his five charges, in spite of their lowly placings to date. It was recognised at the outset that the New Zealanders — who are not in the same class as their more experienced European and North American opponents — were never medal prospects. “But most have done as well as they could, and demonstrated that there is potential in New Zealand,” said Mr Hefti. He intends to concentrate his efforts on getting coaching into the clubs when he starts his job in earnest on April 1. ■
