Little board available for students
Private board is needed urgently for 30 overseas stuattending the University of Canterbury this year.
Even offers of temporary accommodation would be a help; said Miss Alison Gibbs, (the overseas student counsellor at the university. “This is the most difficult situation we have encountered for at least five years.”
About 100 overseas students, mainly from Malaysia and>. Singapore, were expected to enrol at the university this year. In spite of extensive advertising, accommodation' had been found for only 70 students. Miss Gibbs, said that the university was looking for accommodation in the Riccarton and Ham areas, in particular, as new overseas students often faced difficulties in travelling across pwri. '
