TV fees
Sir, — Mr Cross Is advocating a $lO increase in television fees, but Mr Muldoon disagrees. I do not think that with his many visits overseas, and commitments at nights in Parliament, he is in a position to judge the quality of our programmes. We are being bombarded with a large percentage of cheap American violence and utter rubbish. Mr Cross has promised better programmes if he can get the extra $lO fee. In the light of recent events, the rush for $2O lottery tickets, the record investments at the races, and the packed taverns at night, I do not think the extra $lO would cause much concern to the majority of people in this country. It would enable Mr Cross to give us the better programmes as promised. — Yours, etc., J. SWINBURNE, Blenheim. January 4, 1980.
