The courts Cannabis kiss by prison visitor
A 19-year-old woman who admitted supplying a remand prisoner with cannabis while kissing him was convicted and remanded to January 8 for a probation report and sentence when she appeared before Mr J. S. Bisphan, S. M., in the Magistrate’s Court ion Monday. Theresa Anne Galbraith, a solo mother, was allowed bail of $750, with a surety of the same amount. Galbraith also admitted a charge of possessing cannabis. Sergeant J. J. Chaddertor said that about 2.40 p.m. or I December 7 Galbraith visited a man in the remand prison. She was observed to put something in her mouth, and when the prisoner arrived she moved towards him and kissed him on the lips. Sergeant Chadderton saic the prsioner was immediately taken oui of the room. He attempted to swallow what was in his mouth, but eventually spat out a silver capsule. which contained cannabis. SIX CHARGES A sickness beneficiary, aged 35, who appeared on six charges, including one of possessing a knife under circumstances that showed an intention to use it to commit an offence involving bodily injury or the threat or fear of violence, was remanded in custody to December 31. Joseph Dennis Ward also faces two charges of assaulting women, one of threatening to kill one of them, i wilfully damaging two win[dows, to the value of $lOO, [and resisting a constable in [the execution of his duty. All the alleged offences took place on Sunday.
