U.N. officer jailed
NZPA-Reuter Jerusalem A Nigerian Army officer attached to the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment after being convicted of attempting to smuggle arms to Palestinian guerrillas. Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred Gom was arrested last June on his way from United Nations Headquarters in southern Lebanon to Jerusalem after arms, ammunition. and explosives were found in his car. The prosecution also charged that a number of communications between officials of the Palestine Liberation Organisation and Colonel Gom had been found in his possession.
