Award for Aust. driver
NZPA London A young Australian racing driver, Mike Thackwell, yesterday won a £lOOO award for being the best driver in Britain and the Commonwealth this year. Thackwell, aged 18, from Perth, was presented with the Grovewood Award by a former British Grand Prix driver, John Surtees. In European Formula Three this season, Thackwell gained six wins, two seconds and two thirds. Thackwell is the youngest recipient of the grovewood award.
