Breeding horses
Sir, — Your correspondents who enjoyed “Country Calendar” on November 11 cannot justify such crudeness on the grounds of teaching facts of life to children. The programme was on the intricacies of horse breeding and not fit for sitting-room viewing. I am amazed that any woman tolerated it and feel that those who did must epitomise that type of inquisitive town woman who, when visiting a farm wants to see “everything.” It is respectability which keeps farming and veterinary duties in their true perspective. A. L. Ryan and I share that respectability. — Yours, etc., J. F. GARVEY, Westport. November 19, 1979. [Although it was announced yesterday that this correspondence was closed, J. F. Garvey as one of the two originators, has been granted right of reply. This does not mean that the correspondence is reopened. — Editor.]
