Mobile guttering factory
Thanks to an ingenious new seamless gutter forming machine, it is now possible to have worn-out spouting and guttering replaced with rustless, prepainted aluminium within a day. The machine is installed in the factory-at-your-gate spouting service operated by Alcan Home Improvements. On request and a quotation based on the quantity required, a truck housing the machine arrives at your front gate and there is no time-was-ting. The cutting rate is 7.620 m a minute. There is no waste — cutting is exactly to size. Connector units fit simply
and snugly into space and a special sealant makes them leak-proof. It is a quick clean and economical process. Aluminium fascia panels are also available for simple fixing over the top of old wooden fascia. The machine makes it possible to have rustless aluminium guttering and spouting installed at a competitive price. With the long-term advantages of aluminium’s rust-free performance the comparison in costs tends to become weighted in favour of aluminium over its rivals. Until recently, plastic was regarded in some circles as the ultimate. The aluminium guttering and spouting produced by the machine is prepainted. One side is white and the other is an attractive dark brown. Depending on the way the aluminium is fed into the machine, you can have either colour outer-most. The tenacity of the special epoxy paint used is such that it not only withstands the forming processes unmarked, but is guaranteed for 10 years against peeling or flaking. In the last few decades, New Zealand housing has graduated from early wooden guttering to the permanence of aluminium. It is ironic, in some ways, to observe this trend in a day and age characterised more by a throwaway product than attention to
conservation. In this particular case, it is a change for the better.
