Replacement re-roofing

Re-roofing is not a new technique and every week more homes are being given a new look with the overlay system of re-roof-ing.

A further development in the re-roofing field is the technique applied by Monier Tiles. This method differs from the overlay system in that the existing roofing is totally removed and replaced by colourful, lifetime Monier concrete roof tiles. Monier tiles provide a thoroughly weathertight and waterproof roof under the most severe storm conditions at pitches as low as 12 degrees. It is unquestionable that re-roofing with a modern tiling system adds to the value of a home, far in excess of the initial outlay.

Re-roofing an average sized family. home takes about, two days and, as a genera! rule, only minor changes to the timber structure are required to meet the weight differential. Where a house has previously been fitted with a tile roof, no lateration is required. Your Monier representative will advise you on this point. On the underside of every Monier tile there are three lateral weather bars and two deep compression chambers which combine to form a double, barrier to prevent driving rain or snow from entering. Although Monier tiles do not look like concrete, they act like it. They are rodent and termite proof, simply can not rot or crumble, rust or corrode. • They also have the advantage of growing older with age. Where strength, durability and minimal maintenance are required, concrete is excellent. Bridges, jetties, retaining walls and breakwaters are built of concrete. Bridges 50 years old are claimed to be stronger today than the day they were built. Monier tiles gain strength in the same way.
