Kampuchean Govt
Sir, — Surely the situation in Kampuchea calls for positive action immediately. Professor W. E. Willmott (October 5) is following the example set by too many of this country's leaders in attacking the source of news reports instead of looking at the substance of the report itself. Millions of people have been killed in Kampuchea and many more will die unless aid is sent soon. New Zealand has an abundance of the milk products that it is claimed would save many of the children caught up" in this tragedy. Will we send this life-giving food or sit back and watch a nation suffer needlessly, watch from a comfortable distance and in the comfort of our homes? We can help and we should. Apnroaches such as that of Professor Willmott will do little for the people of Kampuchea at a time when they need all the assistance they can get. — Yours, etc., D. J. GATES. October 9, 1979.
