Dept takes over school broadcasts
PA Wellington The Education Department ha< taken over responsibility for broadcasts to scnools from Radio New Zealand. The Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) said the move was designed to provide a "more approp late form of service in line with the modern education system.” The new service would take the form of tape banks held in the National Film Library. These would be available to schools for the dubbing of programmes they wanted to use in classrooms. Current affairs programmes and correspondence and pre-school programmes would still be transmitted by Radio New Zealand under contract.
