Mr Harvey bought Ostrava last February for a reported $50,000. Three weeks later Ostrava won him the Max Harvey Stakes at Addington — to the delight of his new owner, w-ho had sponsored that race. Subsequent good wins pointed to Ostrava being a strong contender- for the Messenger Stakes in Auckland this season, and Mr Harvey had a long-range plan to set him to win the 1981 Inter-Dominion Grand Final in his former homeland.
