Marriage Foundation of Our Society Marriage is the foundation of every soeiety-it's the backbone and muscle of a nation: the head and heart of a tribe. Laws govern marriage. Those laws are just as inexorable as the law s of physics or chemistry. Just as all-powerful as the law of gravity, or inertia. You can't see ''gravity” but you can feel its effects' the relationship of a man and woman in marriage is unique in t he universe. Brief sexual encounters, or experimental sex between under age or unmarried could be considered similar to sex in much of the animal kingdom, although many- animals showsurprising fidelity and faithfulness to both their mates and their offspring. Marriage, according to Webster's dictionary, is the union of persons of the opposite sex as husband and wife. A mutual relationship. The institution whereby men and women are joined in a special kind of social and legal dependence. Stable marriage carries a vow or contract. God's point of view in marriage is a special relationship between God and a believer. Those who live by faith live in constant union with God Almighty in a wonderful relationship of assurance because He said: " I will never leave you or forsake you." In similar manner He said that what God has joined together let no man break apart. In the same kind of (inexplicable) addiction that takes hold of disco dancers or golf players, fishermen, duck shooters or criminals, all know the compulsive power that drives or motivates them. Two people who choose to give themselves to each other can also know the unique drawing power of love and belonging that is greater than difficulties or problems, sickness or personal conflict. Those who have it have a precious possession indeed. Those who don't have it, can pray that God will enhance their union with His presence and add the divine element which identifies the dignity of human relationships above the animals. ill flrwfe ■/ \
