‘Bring back a tourist’
PA Wellington New Zealand travellers going overseas are exhorted to “bring back a tourst” in a card now being placed in their ticket wallets. The 350,000 New Zealanders who holiday abroad each year will get the cards, which tell them: "The livelihoods of many thousands of New Zealanders rely directlv or in-
directly on the reven created by tourism.”
The card has been distributed to about 4000 member travel agencies throughout New Zealand by the Travel Agents’ Association as part of a campaign to promote tourism in this country.
“To restore our balance of payments, it is vital that the flow of tourists from overseas increases throughout the year,” the card says. “You can play your part,” T.A.A.N.Z. tells departing travellers “Be an ambassador for your country — use every opportunity to promote New Zealand to the people you meet.”
New Zealand's five main tourist attributes are described as a clean environment, natural and friendly people, the “world in miniature.” variation of scenic and recreational attractions, a pleasant climate, and hotel, transport and tourist facilities of international, standard.
