garet Alabaster and Kay Gilray to provide a solid base. Jill Jamieson and Sally Russell have joined from Burnside-West University while Yvonne and Debbie Brown have left. Lancaster Park has lost Shirley Cowles, who has retired after a long career, Karen Hadlee, who is overseas, and Ingrid Jagersma, who has moved to Auckland. Kathryn Perry (formerly of Burnside-West) and Yvonne Brown are the new members. Riccarton’s challenge will be led by Sue Rattray and Sheree Harris, both current national representatives. They will be backed up by Karen Gunn and Delwyn Costello from last season’s team while Vicki McNamara has joined from East-Shirley and Sharon Wilson has returned after a one-year break. The only absentee from last year is Glenys Kydd.
Bumside-West has been severely hit with defections and losses. Pru Paterson, Carol Keenan, Lyn Patterson and Norma Thompson remain from last season and there are no significant gains. In addition to the departures of Mrs Jamieson, Miss Russell and Miss Perry’, Sue Wallace will not be playing. The format for the competition has yet to be decided but it is certain there will not be a bye. The grade will consist of either four or six teams. A new' grade has been created. This season, there will be a senior A, a senior B, second grade and third grade. There will be a team from the New Brighton club taking part and, almost certainly a women’s team from High school Old Boys, meaning there is only one senior men’s club without a women’s team, Old Collegians.
