PA Wellington |i Social Credit will sendr “Rangitikei-type” squads in-! to the Labour Party’s margin- / al seats between now and the ’ next General Election as a counter to Labour’s announced “shock troops of , M.P.s,” the league an- ' nounced yesterday. The new move, decided at a week-end meeting of the , league’s Dominion Council, was announced in a joint statement yesterday by the . leader, Mr B. C. Beetham,! and the president, Mr S. Lipa. They said that if Labour ■ wanted to waste time and tax-1 payers’ money and show tac-1:
|tical ineptitude by fighting seats it could not win, the result would only be more I publicity for Social Credit in seats it would win in 1981. The statement asserted that Labour’s lack of clear philosophical and policy stances made it doubtful whether it could deliver “shocks” to anyone. It said that the Christchurch by-election and the latest Heylen poll showed that Social Credit could have i a powerful effect on Labour lin marginal urban seats.
