Racial harmony submissions

Wellington The Human Rights Commission had received more than 100 submissions in response to its invitation to the public to comment on racial harmony in New Zealand, the Chief Human Rights | Commissioner (Mr P. J. > Downey) has said. The commission invited the submissions last month and asked people to give their views on what had caused the “haka party” incident at Auckland University, on whether cultural differences were being respected, and on how understanding among people could be fostered. After analysing the submissions, the commission will I prepare a “statement of is-1 sue” which will be made av-j ailable for nublic discussion during the first half of nextj year. j
