Adams national rally champion
PA Rotorua | Paul Adams, of Auckland, won the 1979 national rally title when he drove his Vinyltop Escort RSIBOO to third place in the final round of 1 the series at Rotorua yesterday. When the final round started at 2 p.tn. on Saturday Adams and Tony Teesdale (Tokoroa) were tied in i the lead, with another Aucklander, John Woolf (Mazda) only a point away, and it was only in the final stages of the rally yesterday that Adams won the championship, as Woolf went out with carburettor trouble and Teesdale rolled his Escort RSIBOO. Jim Donald, of Auckland, who won the Rotorua rally in his Masport Escort finished second in the cham-
ipionship, with Teesdale third ahead of Woolf. Second to Donald in the rally was the G.M. dealer team driver, Steve Millen (Auckland) in his 2.3 litre Chevette DTV.
Millen is still wondering what he hit on the road which punched a huge hole in the car floor under his feet, hit his leg and flattened a rear tyre. Results. —
