Obstetrics charge
Sir, — I note with concern that doctors now wish to charge fees for visits by pregnant women. Recently, we have heard people complain that drivers, wishing to receive an extra SlO - $ll a week (before tax) on a basic wage (after tax') of $94 for a 40 hour week, were holding the country to ransom. However, I would suggest that some of the practitioners within the supposed public health service, are holding the old, the halt and the lame to ransom. Six dollars for a 10-minute visit to a doctor is nothing else but extortion. — Yours, etc.. R. H. FINDLAY. September 26, 1979.
