Second mistrial
A judge has declared a mistrial in the murder retrial of the Black Panther leader, Huey Newton, after yet another jury deadlocked for his acquital on charges of killing a 17-year-old prostitute. The jury of eight women and four men had deadlocked at 11-1 for acquittal. Last March, a mistrial was declared after a jury deadlocked 10-2 for acquittal.—Oakland.
