Marriage
Sir, — I support Barbara and Harold Surtees (August 25) who state that, “love allows acceptance of, and respect for, partners as individuals, each with a right to his own fulfilment.” I disagree strongly with many of the views in Mr Sweet’s article (“The Press,” August 23). I see them harming the “marriage institution.” My assessment is gained from a Biblical perspective and only from that point can I judge right or wrong. Society’s denial of the principle of absolutes will never mean there is no such thing as true or false. The “intimacy of separation” and the “burden of togetherness” are false and wrong concepts. God has not limited the potential of in-
timacy or togetherness in marriages committed to him. — Yours, etc., BRUCE MCFARLANE. August 28, 1979.
