Clutterbuck to ride London Trader
tpecial correspondent Awapuni Gua Clutterbuck will be te-united with London Traler ia the feature Bardstown Stakes at the Avondale heeting this week-end. Clutterbuck was the reguhr rider of London Trader jefore the horse’s failure in fte 1978 Winter Cup at Rictarton. Since then London trader has been ridden by jeveral jockeys. London Trader galloped on t heavy course proper at Awapuni yesterday, taking train 11.2 s for his 1000 m, lhe last 600 m in 40.65, and h the ground this time was [uite satisfactory. He goes orth later in the week. Gavade totk no harm from his fair run at Foxton fn Saturday. He was sent iooom which he ran in Imin <o.6s, the last 600 m in 40.2 s
and he has a chance in the Newmand Handicap at Wanganui. Achtung completed 1000 m in Imin 13s, the last 600 m in 425. Maurice Campbell will ride him at Wanganui. Vizier’s class was apparent when he recorded the good time of 55.4 s for 800 m, the last 600 m in 41.45. He is coming along nicely and may step out at the Otaki meeting next month. Former southerner Encounter covered 1000 m, the last 800 m in 57.4 s and the 600 m in 42.45. Encounter is now with Eric Temperton. Torpedo ran from the 600 m in 44.6 s and was going easily all the way. He has wintered well and should reach good form this season. He showed enough last term to suggest he is above average.
