No cook, no sailing
PA Invercargill No cook turned up to work the Bluff-Stewart Island ferry Wairua yesterday, and nearly 100 people had to disembark. The regular cook had left for his holidays and a replacement had still not arrived by late yesterday. In spite of a plea from the
Ministry of Transport Marine Division, the Cooks and Stewards’ Union would not allow any of its members to work the Wairua. Another cook from Christchurch is expected for today’s sailing. Bread and milk for Stewart Island were unloaded and placed in cool storage.
